Merry Christmas Without the Stress.

So let me guess…
You miss a lift.. or two.
You’re eating foods you don’t usually eat.
Your routine is as normal as the Griswold’s Christmas dinner.

And not to mention, the amount of stressing that continues to compound since November.

As a coach I want to clear one thing up. It’s okay to have a couple days where you eat off menu, and reduce your training frequency.

Training is meant to support your life, not clash with it. A few days off the gym doesn’t erase months of work. A few meals outside your normal plan doesn’t undo any real progress. And rest, real rest… is actually beneficial.

Most people under-recover all year and keep pushing through. This can be necessary to achieve goals. However, so is rest and recovery. And because of this, we sometimes accidentally get it right during the holidays. Time away can reset joints, reduce nervous system fatigue, and restore motivation and perspective.

But you need to actually relax. Then get back on your normal track.
The issue that gets us into trouble is the overcorrection.

Extra cardio to “burn it off.”
Sessions pushed longer and harder than needed… trying to “make up missed days.”
Drastic food cuts to make up for a few days of eating more.

This response can create more fatigue than progress. Your body doesn’t need punishment. All it needs is consistency to return.

Enjoy the holidays. Just don’t turn them into a free-for-all. Have a little self-control. Keep a few anchors in place: eat protein and fiber at most meals, move your body daily (even if it’s just walking), train when the week allows, and resume your normal routine/plan when the holiday season comes to an end.

No extreme reset. No starting over. You’re just continuing.

The best athletes and lifters don’t panic or stress after time off. They don’t chase soreness, sweat, or guilt. They show up, train with purpose, eat like adults again, and let momentum rebuild naturally.

That’s it.
Don’t overcomplicate it.
