A Lifetime of Movement
I've been active for most of my life through martial arts, military, bodybuilding, team sports, and strength training. Over the years, those experiences helped shape my understanding that physical activity is one of the most valuable tools we have for improving both physical and mental well-being. Whether the goal is performance, health, confidence, or simply feeling better day-to-day, movement has always been a consistent and meaningful part of my life.
The Marine Corps
I joined the United States Marine Corps, where physical fitness was a center point. Here I developed a deeper passion for strength training and performance. After earning the rank of Sergeant, I led Marines through physical requirements and oversaw programs helping those who had fallen below fitness standards. I began working directly with them on exercise, conditioning, nutrition, and building the discipline needed to improve performance and readiness.
Exercise Science, and Why It Got Personal
Following my military service, I enrolled at Western Oregon University, earning a degree in Exercise Science. My academic focus centered on strength and conditioning, then was further shaped toward disease prevention and the role physical activity and nutrition play in long-term health and quality of life. That focus became personal during and after my dad's battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease. Further reinforcing my belief in the importance of taking care of both body and mind through movement, exercise, and lifestyle habits.
Where I Coach Now
In recent years, my professional work and personal goals have focused on strength and conditioning, movement quality, and athletic performance. I've worked with athletes across multiple backgrounds, helping them improve strength, movement patterns, conditioning, and overall physical resilience. Working as a personal trainer in multiple gyms, as well as for myself with both online and in-person athletes and clients. I also part-time work at Oregon State University assisting with Division I Football, Wrestling, Volleyball, and Soccer strength & conditioning, where I continue developing my coaching philosophy and experience in high-level athletic performance. Here I am utilizing the knowledge and resources to further my education and credentials to obtain my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification.
My Approach
My approach to training is centered around making exercise valuable, practical, and sustainable. I believe training should build strength, improve movement, reduce limitations, and fit realistically into someone's life. Whether working with athletes or non-sport related clients, my goal is to help them become stronger, move better, and feel confident both inside and outside the gym.
